iPhone 15 repair prices in Singapore, ours and Apple’s

Most repair shops in Singapore will not put a number in front of you until you are standing at the counter. We would rather you knew before you travelled, and we would rather you knew what Apple charges too, because Apple is the price every iPhone owner checks first and it is the only benchmark that does not move week to week.

Start with Apple’s own figures. These are Apple’s published out-of-warranty service prices for Singapore, covering the whole iPhone 15 family:

That bottom row is the one worth staring at. “Other damage” is Apple’s whole-unit price, and on a 15 Pro Max it is S$1,059 — the number a badly damaged phone lands on when it is not a clean single-part job. It is also the number that makes a board-level repair worth asking about rather than assuming the phone is finished.

Screen replacement, and the one word that changes the price

Every iPhone 15 model uses an OLED panel — Apple calls it Super Retina XDR — from the base 15 right through to the Pro Max. There is no LCD iPhone 15. That matters when you are comparing quotes, because a shop advertising an “iPhone 15 LCD replacement” is either using the word loosely to mean any screen, or quoting from a price list that was never model-specific in the first place. Ask which panel they mean.

The bigger trap is the difference between a glass-only repair and a full display replacement, and it is the main reason two Singapore quotes for “the same” job can be hundreds of dollars apart. Glass-only re-laminates a new outer layer onto your existing panel. It is a genuine repair and it is cheaper, but it only works when the OLED underneath is completely undamaged — no lines, no black patches, no dead touch, no green tint. A full display replacement swaps the whole assembly. If the panel itself is damaged, glass-only is not an option at any price, and a quote that does not distinguish between the two is not a quote you can compare.

What we do on the bench is straightforward: check whether the OLED under the glass is actually intact, tell you which repair your phone needs, and give you the price for that repair in writing. Expect True Tone to be transferred where the model allows it, and expect us to be upfront if it cannot be. Battery: three years in, and it shows

An iPhone 15 bought at launch is around three years old now, which is squarely when batteries start announcing themselves. Open Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health & Charging. Maximum Capacity tells you how much charge the cell still holds against new. Peak Performance Capability is the one people miss: as a battery ages iOS will quietly slow the phone down to stop it shutting off under load. That is why a three-year-old iPhone often feels sluggish before it feels short of charge. Below roughly 80% capacity you will see the word Service, and at that point a fresh battery restores both the runtime and the speed.

Our band for the iPhone 15 family is from around S$100 to S$180, against Apple’s S$145 for every model in the line. On this particular repair Apple is genuinely competitive, and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise — the gap that exists on screens is not really there on 15-family batteries. Where we tend to be the better answer is when the battery is one of several things wrong, when you want the phone back the same afternoon, or when the fault turns out not to be the battery at all.

Singapore’s climate is the other half of this. Heat ages a lithium cell faster than cycle count does, and a phone left on a dashboard, charging under a pillow, or gaming inside a thick case in an un-airconditioned room is being cooked slowly. Leave Optimised Battery Charging on, use the 80% charge limit if you want to be gentler still, and there is no need to run the phone flat. The USB-C port, and why it usually isn’t broken

The iPhone 15 was the first iPhone to charge over USB-C rather than Lightning, and that single change is behind a lot of the charging problems people bring us. Some of it is genuinely the port. Most of it is not.

The most common cause of an iPhone that has stopped charging, by a wide margin, is compacted lint. Pocket fluff gets pushed to the bottom of the port a little further every time you plug in, until it forms a solid pad that stops the connector seating. The phone behaves exactly like it has a dead port: the cable feels loose, charging starts and stops, or nothing happens at all. Cleaning it out properly is a careful job with the right tool and no metal poking, and it is very often the entire repair. We do it as part of the free diagnosis.

After lint, the order of suspicion runs: the cable, the charger, the port assembly, then the charging circuitry on the logic board. Cables are worth ruling out yourself before you travel in — USB-C cables vary enormously in quality and a cheap one that has been bent at the same spot for a year is a genuinely common culprit. If it turns out to be the port assembly, that is a replaceable module rather than a soldered part on most iPhones, which is why it is a repair and not a write-off. Back glass: the generation that finally got cheap

This is the best news on the whole page, and almost nobody knows it. Apple’s published Singapore price for back glass damage on an iPhone 15 is S$225, and it is S$225 on all four models — 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max alike.

To see why that is remarkable, look at the generation before. On an iPhone 14 Pro the same repair is S$749, and on a 14 Pro Max it is S$825, because on those models the rear glass is bonded to the chassis and replacing it effectively means replacing the phone. Apple redesigned the internals so the back panel could come off independently, and the iPhone 15 is the generation where that redesign reached the Pro models. A cracked back on a 15 Pro Max costs S$600 less to put right at Apple than the same crack on a 14 Pro Max. It is the single largest price difference between the two generations.

We quote back glass by model rather than publish a band, because the work varies with how the panel has shattered and how much of it has to be cleared before the new one goes on, and because the phone has to be properly resealed afterwards. The rear camera, and the lens cover people mistake for it

Apple charges S$255 for rear camera damage on a 15 or 15 Plus, S$325 on a 15 Pro and S$385 on a 15 Pro Max. Before you assume that is your number, it is worth knowing that a lot of what gets called “camera damage” is not the camera at all.

The sapphire lens cover sitting over each camera is a separate piece of glass from the module underneath it. Crack the cover and your photos go hazy, flared or milky in bright light — which looks exactly like a broken camera — while the module behind it is perfectly fine. That is a much smaller job than a module replacement. The other frequent one is dust or moisture that has found its way under the cover and is sitting on the lens, which again is not a failed camera.

Genuine module faults do happen: a camera that will not focus, a shaking or rattling preview from a failed optical stabiliser, a black frame from one lens while the others work. The 15 and 15 Plus were the first non-Pro iPhones to carry the 48MP main sensor, so there is more in there to go wrong than on a 14. Does the iPhone 15 have Touch ID? No — and here is what you probably mean

We are answering this one directly because people search for it and get sent to pages that dodge it. No iPhone 15 model has Touch ID. Not the 15, not the Plus, not the Pro, not the Pro Max. There is no fingerprint reader in the home button because there is no home button, and there is none in the power button either. Every iPhone 15 uses Face ID.

So if you are looking up the cost of replacing Touch ID on an iPhone 15, one of two things is true. Either the phone in your hand is an older model or an iPhone SE, which does have a fingerprint reader in the home button — bring it in and we will identify it properly, which takes about ten seconds. Or your Face ID has stopped working and Touch ID is simply the phrase that came to mind.

If it is Face ID, that is a real repair and a genuinely case-by-case one. Some Face ID failures are a damaged flex cable or a connector unseated by a drop, and those are repairable. Others involve the dot projector, which is paired to your individual phone at the factory, and no amount of parts-swapping fixes those without the right approach. What actually fails on an iPhone 15

Three years is long enough for a clear pattern to emerge. Cracked screens and dead batteries lead, as they do on every generation. Charging complaints are next, and as covered above most of those are lint rather than hardware. Cracked back glass turns up more than you would expect, because a glass-backed phone landing face-up breaks the side you were not worrying about.

Beyond the obvious: speaker and microphone complaints, where the earpiece sounds muffled on calls or the bottom speaker has gone quiet, are frequently a clogged mesh rather than a failed speaker — Singapore humidity and pocket dust are a bad combination. Liquid ingress is the one people underestimate; the iPhone 15 is water-resistant, not waterproof, and that rating degrades with every drop, reseal and year of thermal cycling. What we do not see much of on the 15 is board-level failure from ordinary use. When a 15 comes in dead, the cause is usually something that happened to it rather than something that wore out.

Apple, us, or the S$80 shop

There are three routes for an iPhone 15 repair in Singapore, and honestly none of them is right for everyone.

Five minutes of preparation makes the visit much shorter. Back the phone up to iCloud or a computer, because even though a screen or battery job does not touch your data, a backup is the right habit before any repair. Turn off Find My iPhone, and have your passcode ready — we need to power the phone up and test it properly afterwards, and we cannot do that on a locked device. Take the case and screen protector off. If the fault is intermittent, note when it happens, because “only when charging” or “only after it gets hot” narrows the diagnosis enormously.
