Tell us what it is doing
Get a quote before you travel
The more precisely you describe the symptom, the tighter the range we can give you. “Will not turn on” covers four different faults; “no lights at all, even with the charger plugged in” narrows it to one or two.
Before you make the trip
Three things worth doing first, because each of them changes what we can achieve once the machine is on the bench.
If it has been wet, stop using it and disconnect the battery if you safely can. A spill does not kill a board on contact — it leaves a conductive residue that corrodes traces for days afterwards. Machines that reach us within forty-eight hours have materially better outcomes than machines that reach us a fortnight later, and the difference is not small.
If the battery is swollen, do not press it flat and do not keep charging it. A trackpad that has begun to lift, or a chassis that no longer sits flat on a table, means the cell has vented. It is a fire and pressure hazard, not an inconvenience. Power it down, keep it somewhere non-flammable, and bring it in.
If the data matters more than the machine, say so at intake. On Apple silicon MacBooks the storage is soldered to the logic board and bound to its secure enclave, so a board replacement destroys the data even though the memory chips are undamaged. Telling us at intake changes the entire order of operations. Telling us at collection is too late.
What happens when you arrive
Someone looks at the machine while you are standing there. On common faults you will get a diagnosis and a price the same visit. On board-level work the machine goes on the bench, the current draw is measured, and you get a call with a written quote before anything is touched. We do not begin work you have not approved, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
If you would rather see the fault than take our word for it, ask. The microscope is there and the machine is yours.
Questions we get every week
Visiting, quoting and dropping off
Do I need an appointment?
How do I get to you?
Can you quote me before I come in?

Do you collect and deliver?
Send a photo, get an honest read
Most faults can be narrowed a long way from a good description and one photograph. It costs you nothing to ask before you travel.
