Privacy & personal data
Privacy Notice
This explains what we record when you bring a device to us, why we record it, who can see it, and how long we keep it. It is written to be read, not to be got past.

Fixtrox Pte Ltd (UEN 201203796C), trading as iDevice Repair Centre, 6 Harper Road, Leong Huat Building #05-02, Singapore 369674. +65 9823 2527. We are the organisation responsible for the personal data described here, under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act.
Questions about your personal data go to the manager, at [email protected].
What we record, and why
Nearly all of it is recorded once, at the counter, when you hand a device over. We ask for it because a repair shop that does not know whose device it is holding, what was wrong with it, or what condition it arrived in, cannot do the job properly or give it back safely.
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your name | To match you to your device when you come back for it. |
| Your phone number | To reach you with the price before we start, and to tell you when it is ready. |
| Your email address, if you give one | To send you a copy of your intake record. This one is optional. |
| The device: make, model, serial or IMEI | To identify the exact unit, order the right part, and prove which device came back to you. |
| What is wrong with it, in your words | It is the starting point for the diagnosis, and it is the thing we are measured against afterwards. |
| Photographs of the device | A record of its condition at the moment it was handed over — existing scratches, cracks, dents. This protects you as much as us. |
| The result of the counter test | What worked and what did not, before we touched it. |
| Your signature | Your agreement to the repair terms you were shown, and your confirmation that the record above is accurate. |
We do not ask you for anything we do not need. We do not build a marketing profile from it, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to anyone for advertising.
No form of ours has a box for a device passcode, an Apple ID, a Google account or any other password, and no member of staff will ever ask you to write one down.
Some repairs cannot be properly tested with the device locked. Where that is the case we will ask you, in person at the counter, whether you are willing to unlock it for testing. You are free to say no. If you would rather not, we test the repair using our own test drive instead and judge it on that — which means we can confirm the part we replaced is working, but we cannot check how your own installation behaves, and we would not know about a fault that only shows up once you are back in your own account.
Photographs and signatures
The photographs are of the device, not of you. They are taken to show its physical condition, and that is the only thing they are used for. Your signature is stored as an image alongside the record it belongs to, and is used for nothing else — it is never re-used on another document.
CCTV
The area where devices are tested and handed over is covered by CCTV. It is there for security and safety, and to protect customers, staff and property. In practice that means three things:
- keeping the shop secure;
- having a record of devices being tested and handed over;
- looking into a problem if one comes up later.
The cameras record picture only. No sound is recorded anywhere on the premises. Recordings are kept for about one month and are then overwritten automatically.
iDevice Repair Centre operates the CCTV inside the shop, and nobody outside iDevice Repair Centre has access to the internal footage.
Footage is not watched routinely. It is reviewed where there is a security incident, a complaint, or suspected misconduct — and when it is reviewed for a complaint about a repair, only the part covering that repair is looked at. If you want to raise something, tell us straight away: ask within the month and we will keep the footage of your visit and show it to you.
Who can see your record
Employees of iDevice Repair Centre, and not all of them as a matter of course. Day to day, the record is opened by the staff handling your repair. If a question or a complaint is raised, it is opened by whoever needs to look into it, so that it can be answered properly.
Beyond that, we share personal data only where the repair itself requires it — for example, giving a model and serial number to a parts supplier so the correct component is sent. Where that happens we give the minimum that gets the job done, and never your contact details for any purpose of their own.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| The repair record | Up to two years after the repair is completed |
| Your signature image | Kept with the record it belongs to, and deleted with it |
| Your name, phone and email | Deleted or anonymised after one year, once no longer required |
| Device-condition photographs | Six months |
| CCTV footage | About one month, then overwritten |
Two years for the repair record means a customer who comes back long after the three-month warranty has run out can still be told what we did and what they agreed to. Your contact details come out a year earlier than that, because once a repair is closed and collected we no longer need to be able to reach you about it. Photographs go soonest of all — their only purpose is a disagreement about the condition a device arrived in, and those come up early or not at all.
Two things sit outside that schedule. Records we are required to keep for accounting, tax, a legal claim or another statutory purpose are held separately, for as long as that purpose requires. And anything under an active dispute or investigation is excluded from automatic deletion until the matter is resolved — deleting the evidence in the middle of an argument helps nobody, least of all the customer making the point.
Routine emails are deleted after twelve months once they are no longer required.
What you can ask us to do
Under the Personal Data Protection Act you can:
- Ask what we hold about you, and ask for a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct it if something is wrong — a misspelled name, the wrong number.
- Withdraw your consent to us holding it. Be aware of what that means in practice: if you withdraw while a repair is in progress, we can no longer contact you about it, and we may not be able to complete or return the device the normal way.
- Ask us to delete your record.
Email [email protected] or ask at the counter. We reply within 30 days. We delete what we can, and tell you plainly what we have to keep and why — an open repair, an open complaint, or a warranty that is still running.
If you are unhappy about how we handled your data
Tell us first, at [email protected] or by asking for the manager at the shop. We acknowledge a complaint within one to three business days and aim to give a full answer within five working days; if it will take longer than that we tell you why and when to expect it.
If we cannot resolve it between us, you can raise it with the Personal Data Protection Commission of Singapore.
Keeping it safe
Intake records are held in our own system, on a server we control, reached over an encrypted connection and only by staff accounts with their own login. Records cannot be quietly altered after the fact: the system records who changed what, and when. Old records are deleted on a schedule rather than left to accumulate, which is the simplest security measure there is — data you no longer hold cannot be lost.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal data, we change this page and update the date at the top. The version that applies to your repair is the one you were shown when you handed the device over.
Our repair terms — what we charge, what the warranty covers and what happens to an uncollected device — are shown to you in full before you sign, and are explained on our warranty and how-we-work page. If you have not brought a device in yet, our quote page tells you what to expect at the counter, and the price guide gives realistic bands before you commit to anything.
