Apple Watch repair in Singapore, battery, screen or just the charger?

Most people who search for Apple Watch repair in Singapore have already decided what is wrong with the watch, and the guess is not always right. A short battery life is not always the battery, a watch that will not charge is often a dirty back or a tired adapter, and a cracked front is not always a glass-only job. This page helps you work out which of the three jobs you need, says when Apple is the better choice, and states plainly what we will and will not do.

Battery, screen or charger: which Apple Watch job do you need?

An Apple Watch fails in three ways that matter at a repair bench, and from the wrist they look more alike than they are. Sorting them first saves a wasted trip, and sometimes the whole repair.

  • The battery. The watch works but does not last: flat well before evening, falling in big steps, or switching off at a charge level that used to be fine. This is the smaller job.
  • The glass or the display. The front is cracked, dark in patches, striped, or no longer answers touch. This is the larger job, because on many models the glass is bonded to the display and the repair is the display assembly.
  • A charging fault. The watch will not charge, charges very slowly, or stops partway. It is often the charger, the adapter or a dirty back rather than the watch.

The table at the top of this page matches common symptoms to the likely job. Treat it as a first guess: battery life is also shaped by an always-on display, GPS workouts and a weak link to the phone, and none of those needs a repair.

The jobs are not priced alike and the written quote follows a free diagnosis, so there is no figure on this page; our iPhone repair cost guide shows how we band phone work. If it is the phone in your pocket that runs out by mid-afternoon, that is a different job: iPhone battery replacement in Singapore.

Which Apple Watch do you have, and why it matters for parts

The word people type is iWatch, but there is no product with that name. It is the Apple Watch, so a search for iWatch repair in Singapore leads here too. What matters is the exact watch, because a battery or display assembly is made for one case size and one generation, and a part for one does not fit another.

We need four details.

  • The line. Series (and its number), SE or Ultra.
  • The case size in millimetres, such as 41 mm or 45 mm.
  • GPS or cellular. The two versions of one size are separate builds with separate model numbers.
  • The case material: aluminium, stainless steel or titanium. It decides whether the front is Ion-X glass or sapphire crystal.

Where to look

On the watch, open Settings, then General, then About. On the paired iPhone, open the Watch app, then General, then About. The model number, which starts with the letter A, is usually engraved on the case back too, so a photo of the back with the band off answers most of it. Send that photo and a line about the symptom on WhatsApp and we can say which of the three jobs it sounds like. For the wider range we repair, see Apple repair in Singapore.

Apple Watch battery replacement in Singapore: is it really the battery?

A tired battery is the commonest reason an older Apple Watch feels broken, and it is the smaller of the three jobs.

Signs it is the battery

  • It no longer lasts a normal day with the same habits as before, or needs the charger twice a day where once was enough.
  • The percentage falls in big steps, or the watch switches off while still showing a charge.

None proves it alone; together with a low capacity figure they are convincing. On the watch, open Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health. Where your watch and software show it, Maximum Capacity is the battery’s present capacity as a percentage of what it held when new. Not every model has this page; if yours does not, the symptoms and a bench test do the job.

What 80 per cent at 1,000 cycles means

Apple states that an Apple Watch battery is designed to retain up to 80 per cent of its original capacity at 1,000 complete charge cycles. A cycle is roughly one full battery’s worth of use, which can be spread across several top-ups, so a watch run nearly flat every day gets there in under three years. Around that mark a battery is worn rather than faulty, and replacing it begins to make sense. Opening the watch for a battery affects the water seal, which the water section below covers.

If the front is lifting, stop using the watch. A swollen lithium battery pushes the display up from the case. You may see a gap at the edge, a watch that rocks on a flat surface, or a cracked-looking screen with no impact. Take it off your wrist, do not charge it, do not press on the display, keep it away from heat, and bring it in or send us a photo.

Apple Watch screen repair in Singapore: glass, display or both

People search for Apple Watch screen replacement and Apple Watch glass replacement as if they were two jobs. On many watches they are one, and knowing why makes the quote easier to read.

Two layers that look like one

The front is a cover glass over a display, and the display carries the touch sensing. Many models bond the two. Where the glass is bonded to the display, new glass cannot be fitted on its own: the repair is the display assembly, the larger job. Whether a glass-only repair is possible depends on the watch and on whether the display underneath is undamaged. The written quote says which job it is, so you can compare it with any other quote on the same terms.

Ion-X or sapphire

Aluminium-case watches use strengthened Ion-X glass. Stainless-steel and titanium cases, and the Ultra, use sapphire crystal. Sapphire resists scratches far better but is not crack-proof.

Glass problem or display problem

  • Cracked front, picture and touch normal. It looks like glass only, but on a bonded model it is usually still the display assembly.
  • Lines, dark patches, flicker or touch that does not respond. The display itself is damaged.
  • Fogging or a stain spreading behind the glass. Moisture has got in. Power the watch off and bring it in.

Free checks first

Some dead screens are not. A water-drop icon means Water Lock is on and touch is off; turning the Digital Crown unlocks it. Check that Theatre Mode has not left the display dark, take off any protector, restart the watch, and charge it for half an hour on a known good charger. Where a real choice exists between genuine-grade and quality aftermarket parts, we explain it and you choose.

Apple Watch not charging, or charging very slowly

This is the symptom people search for most, and the one most often solved without a repair. Work through it in order.

  1. Clean the back of the watch and the face of the charger. Sweat, sunscreen and hand cream leave a film that interferes with the connection. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
  2. Remove anything between the two. A thick case or a film on the back is enough to slow or stop charging.
  3. Change the power source. Use a wall adapter rather than a computer port or a very low-output charger, and push the cable in fully at both ends.
  4. Try another charger. Chargers fail too, usually where the cable leaves the puck. If a friend’s charger works, the watch was never the problem.
  5. Restart the watch, holding the side button and Digital Crown together for around ten seconds if it is frozen.
  6. Let it cool. A warm watch can charge more slowly, and Optimised Battery Charging can hold the charge at 80 per cent on purpose until shortly before you usually need the watch, which looks exactly like a slow charge.

When the fault is still there

A watch that charges only at an angle, or starts and stops, points to the contact. One that charges to full but empties quickly is a battery. One that gets noticeably hot on the charger, or has a lifting front, should stop being charged and come in straight away.

We diagnose charging faults free on a walk-in. Bring the charger you use: if the fault follows the charger, we say so and you save a repair. If it is a fault we cannot reach by repair, we tell you rather than guess.

Water, sweat and the 50 m rating

Apple rates Series 2 and later at 50 metres of water resistance and Ultra models at 100 metres; Series 1 is splash-resistant only. Those are factory ratings for a watch with its seals as built, and Apple itself says water resistance can wear away..

  • A repair that opens the watch affects the seal. A new battery, glass or display all mean separating the front from the case. We say so in the quote and do not promise a repaired watch matches a new one.
  • A cracked or lifting front is already compromised. Keep it dry until it is looked at.
  • Sweat, soap and sunscreen are slow enemies. They leave residue around the Crown and button openings, and in Singapore’s humidity it stays there.

If the watch has been properly wet

If it has been in the sea, in a shower with soap, or in anything other than clean fresh water, switch it off, do not charge it and dry the outside with a soft cloth. Charging a wet watch is how a small problem becomes an expensive one. The logic is the same as for a phone, and our guide to iPhone water damage repair explains why corrosion keeps working after the water has dried. We assess water damage on watches and say honestly when one is not worth repairing.

Digital Crown and side button faults

A Digital Crown that has gone gritty or stiff, or a side button that no longer clicks cleanly, is most often residue. Soap, salt water, sweat and sunscreen dry in the gap and bind it.

On a Series 2 or later with an intact front, a gentle rinse under a fresh-water tap and a dry with a lint-free cloth sometimes frees a fouled Crown. Do not do this on a Series 1, which is only splash-resistant. Never force a stuck Crown, and never push a pin or blade into the gap.

If it still sticks, scrolls erratically or stops responding, the cause may be dirt worked further in, moisture inside, or knock damage. We assess it and say whether the repair is worth doing on your watch. Some faults of this kind are not.

Activation Lock, pairing and your data

Activation Lock links a watch to the Apple Account it was set up with, so a lost or stolen watch is useless to whoever holds it. Nobody can or should bypass it, and we cannot and will not remove or bypass Activation Lock on any watch. If anyone offers to, ask whose watch it really is.

Before you bring a working watch in

Unpair it from the Watch app on your iPhone. That removes Activation Lock, and the iPhone makes a fresh backup of the watch. If the display is dead, the Watch app or Apple’s Find service in a browser can usually still release the lock. If you have lost the account details, Apple’s own account recovery is the route; we cannot help with that part.

What happens to your data

A battery, glass or display repair does not need what is stored on the watch, and we do not offer data recovery from a watch. Most of what it records, such as workouts and activity, syncs to the Health app on the paired iPhone, and the unpairing backup is what you restore from afterwards. Your watch stays in our workshop. Nothing is sent offshore, and nothing is handed to a third party without telling you.

Where to repair an Apple Watch: Apple or an independent?

People who search for an Apple Watch service centre in Singapore usually mean Apple’s own. We are an independent repair centre, not affiliated with or authorised by Apple, so where to repair an Apple Watch depends on your watch.

Apple is the better choice when

  • The watch is in warranty. A covered defect costs you nothing at Apple, and no independent can beat that.
  • You have AppleCare+. Depending on the plan, it can cover accidental damage for a fee and battery service below Apple’s capacity threshold. Check your terms before you pay anyone else.

An independent is the better choice when

  • The watch is out of warranty and AppleCare+. You are then choosing on price and honesty, and a free diagnosis and a written quote cost nothing to compare.
  • You want to keep this watch and want a straight answer on whether it is worth repairing at all.

A repair at an independent can change how Apple treats the watch if you later go back under warranty, so ask Apple first if cover matters to you. Our guide to third-party vs Apple repair sets out both routes fairly.

What we will not promise

A repair page that promises everything is not worth reading. On an Apple Watch we will not promise:

  • Unlocking. We will not remove or bypass Activation Lock, however the request is worded.
  • Original water resistance after a repair that opens the watch.
  • A glass-only repair on every model. Where the glass is bonded, the repair is the display assembly.
  • That every fault can be repaired, or is worth repairing. If it is not, we say so.
  • Data recovery from a watch.
  • A fixed turnaround. Many screen and battery jobs are often done while you wait, subject to parts, but we do not guarantee it.
  • How Apple will treat the watch afterwards. That is for Apple to explain.

What we do promise is short: a free diagnosis on walk-ins, a written quote before any work, a written warranty on parts and labour, and no repair fee if we cannot fix it.

How an Apple Watch repair works here

  1. Tell us the watch and the symptom. A WhatsApp message with a photo of the case back is enough for a first read. If you cannot come in, islandwide courier is possible; ask first.
  2. Free diagnosis. Walk-ins get one at no charge. We identify the watch, test the battery and charging, and look at the glass and display.
  3. A written quote that names the job: battery, glass repair, display assembly or charging fault, and the kind of part where a real choice exists.
  4. You approve it, or you do not. Nothing is opened until you say yes. If you decline, you take the watch home.
  5. Repair and test. We test the watch before it goes back to you.
  6. A written warranty on parts and labour. If we cannot fix the watch, you do not pay a repair fee.

We repair at component level wherever possible rather than swapping whole units; the main Apple repair page explains the principle.

Is it worth repairing, and what to bring

A battery on an otherwise sound watch is usually worth doing: it is the smaller job. A display repair on an older watch is a closer call, because it is the larger job and the watch may be worth little more than the repair. Ask three questions: how old is the watch, is everything else on it working, and does it still pair with the iPhone you use now? Apple publishes which iPhones work with which watches; check before paying to repair one that cannot pair. We tell you which side of the line yours falls on.

Before you bring it in

  • Note the model from Settings, General, About, or photograph the case back.
  • If it still works, unpair it from the Watch app. That removes Activation Lock and makes a backup.
  • If it has a passcode, have it ready: a watch that cannot be unlocked cannot be tested.
  • Bring the charger you use, and note when the fault happens: only on the charger, only after a swim.
  • If the front is lifting, do not charge it. Message us a photo first.

Questions we get every week

Apple Watch repair questions, answered

Where can I repair my Apple Watch in Singapore?

Apple repairs its own watches and is the better choice in warranty or under AppleCare+. Out of warranty, an independent such as ours at 6 Harper Road, three minutes from Tai Seng MRT, gives a free diagnosis on walk-ins, a written quote before any work, and an honest answer if the repair is not worth doing. We are not affiliated with or authorised by Apple.

How do I know if my Apple Watch needs a new battery?

Look for a watch that no longer lasts a normal day, a percentage that drops in big steps, or a shutdown while it still shows charge. Then check Maximum Capacity under Settings, Battery, Battery Health, where your watch shows it. Apple designs the battery to keep up to 80 per cent of its capacity at 1,000 complete charge cycles, so a figure around or below that points to the battery.

Why is my Apple Watch charging very slowly?

Usually the battery is not the cause. Wipe the back of the watch and the charger, remove any case or film between them, and use a wall adapter rather than a computer port. A warm watch can charge more slowly, and Optimised Battery Charging can hold the charge at 80 per cent on purpose. If a different charger changes nothing, bring the watch in for a free diagnosis.

Can a cracked Apple Watch screen or glass be replaced in Singapore?

Usually, but we confirm after looking at it. We check whether the damage is the glass alone or the display too, and tell you which repair applies before anything is opened. Many models bond the glass to the display, so Apple Watch glass replacement is often a display assembly, and a glass-only repair needs the display underneath to be undamaged. The written quote says which.

Do you do iWatch repair in Singapore?

Yes. iWatch is what many people call the Apple Watch, and no product has that name. We look at battery, screen and glass, and charging faults, and we assess water damage and Digital Crown or button faults, with an honest answer when a fault is not worth repairing. We are independent, not affiliated with or authorised by Apple.

Are you an Apple Watch service centre in Singapore?

We are an independent repair centre, not Apple, and not affiliated with or authorised by Apple. For Apple's own service on a watch in warranty or under AppleCare+, go to Apple. Out of warranty, we offer a free diagnosis on walk-ins, a written quote before any work and a written warranty on parts and labour.

Can you remove Activation Lock from an Apple Watch?

No. Activation Lock ties a watch to its owner's Apple Account, and we cannot and will not bypass it. If your watch still works, unpair it from the Watch app on your iPhone before you bring it in; that removes the lock and backs up the watch. If you have lost the account details, Apple's account recovery is the route.

Will an Apple Watch repair affect its water resistance?

It can. Apple rates Series 2 and later at 50 metres and Ultra models at 100 metres, as a factory rating. Any repair that opens the watch affects the factory seal, and we say so in the quote. We do not promise a repaired watch is as water resistant as a new one, so ask what to expect for your model.

Is it worth repairing an old Apple Watch?

A battery on an otherwise sound watch usually is, because it is the smaller job. A display repair on an older model is a closer call, because the watch may be worth little more than the repair. We tell you which side of that line yours falls on, and we are happy to say when a repair is not worth doing.
