iPad battery replacement in Singapore, done safely
Runtime collapsed, sudden shutdowns, an iPad that only runs on the charger, or a screen lifting at one edge because the battery beneath it has swollen — we replace iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro and iPad mini batteries with quality cells, open the bonded display carefully, fit a new pack, reseal the screen, and quote in writing before any work. Your data is never touched.

The iPads we replace batteries for
We fit batteries across the whole range: the standard iPad from the older Lightning models through to the current USB-C generations; the iPad Air, including the M1 and M2 models; the iPad Pro in both 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes across the M1, M2 and M4 generations; and the iPad mini. The construction differs by model — battery size, how the display is bonded, and how firmly the cell is glued down all vary — but the principle is the same: read the battery honestly, confirm it is the battery and not the charging port or the board, and fit a quality replacement. An iPad battery replacement is one of the most worthwhile repairs a tablet can have, and it lives on the same bench as the rest of our iPad repair and Apple repair work.
The signs your iPad battery is due
An iPad rarely fails its battery overnight; it warns you first. Watch for:
- Runtime that has collapsed — a charge that used to last for days of light use now lasting an afternoon.
- Sudden shutdowns with charge still showing, or the iPad dying the instant you unplug it.
- Only runs on the charger — a strong sign the pack can no longer hold a useful charge.
- Very slow charging or running hot while charging, which can point to the battery or the charging circuit.
- The iPad feels warm at rest or drains fast even in standby.
- Any swelling — a screen lifting away from the body, a gap opening around the edge, or the glass starting to separate. This is the urgent one, covered next.
If the iPad has also stopped charging entirely, the fault may be the port or the board rather than the cell, which is why we diagnose before quoting — and our iPad motherboard repair bench handles charging-circuit faults when that turns out to be the real cause.
Swollen batteries — read this first
The battery sits directly under the display. When a lithium-polymer cell ages or overheats it can swell, pushing the screen up so it lifts away from the aluminium body or opens a gap around the edge. If you see this: stop using and charging the iPad, do not press the screen back down, keep it away from heat, and bring it in. A swollen cell is a genuine fire risk if punctured, and it needs careful, controlled removal — never force.
Swollen batteries are one of the most common iPad faults we see, particularly on tablets a few years old that live on a charger, and in Singapore's heat. We remove them safely, clean up the adhesive, check that the swelling has not cracked the glass or damaged nearby flex cables, fit a quality replacement, and reseal the display properly so it sits flush again. If the swelling has already lifted or cracked the screen, we will tell you what else needs attention — often a screen and battery together — before you commit.
Why iPadOS hides battery health — and how we read it anyway
On an iPhone you can open Settings and see a battery health percentage and, on newer models, a cycle count. iPadOS does not show any of this. There is no battery health screen on an iPad, so owners are left guessing from behaviour alone — which is why so many people live with a failing iPad battery far longer than they would tolerate on a phone. When you bring the iPad in, we connect it to a bench diagnostic that reads the real cycle count and the measured capacity against the design capacity, so instead of a guess you get an honest number and a clear recommendation. If the battery is genuinely healthy and the problem is elsewhere — the charger, the port, an app draining in the background — we will tell you that too, and we will not sell you a battery you do not need.
Why iPad batteries wear out
Every lithium battery ages; the questions are how fast and why. Charge cycles are the base clock — each full charge-and-discharge counts as one, and capacity fades as they accumulate; most iPad batteries are rated for around 1,000 cycles to 80% capacity. Heat is the accelerator, and it matters more than anything else in Singapore's climate: an iPad left in a hot car, charging on a bed or under a pillow, or run hard while gaming ages its battery far faster than cycles alone would. iPads also spend more of their life sitting on a charger than phones do — mounted in a kitchen, used as a kids' device, or left docked — and holding 100% while warm, day after day, is one of the hardest things you can do to a cell. Occasionally what looks like a dead battery is actually a charging-circuit fault on the board pretending to be one, which is exactly why we confirm the diagnosis before quoting a battery.
Battery replacement vs an Apple replacement iPad
Here is the part worth knowing before you decide. Apple's out-of-warranty battery service for iPad is usually not a battery replacement at all — it is a whole-unit swap. You hand in your iPad and receive a different replacement device for a set fee, then set it up again from your backup. It is clean and quick, but you pay a fixed price whatever the fault, you lose the exact iPad you own, and you go through the reset-and-restore.
An independent battery replacement takes the other route: we open your iPad, remove the worn cell, fit a new one, and hand back the same device — often for less than the swap fee and with none of the setup. Where your iPad is still inside its warranty or covered by AppleCare+, we will say so plainly and point you there if it is the better deal. We are not affiliated with or authorised by Apple; we are the independent alternative, and our job is to give you the honest comparison — including, on a very old or heavily worn iPad, whether a repair is worth it at all.
Our iPad battery replacement process
- Diagnosis. We read cycle count and measured capacity on a bench tool, load-test the pack, and confirm the fault is the battery and not the charging port or the board. Free on walk-ins.
- Written quote. The price and a realistic turnaround, in writing, before anything is opened. You approve it first.
- Careful display removal. The bonded screen is warmed and separated slowly to protect the glass and the digitiser — the step where rushed repairs crack screens, and the step we never rush.
- Safe battery removal. The old pack is disconnected and lifted out, adhesive softened rather than forced, and swollen cells handled with particular care.
- Fit a quality replacement. A properly matched cell with a healthy battery-management circuit is fitted; we never use bargain no-brand cells, which are the ones that swell early.
- Reseal and test. The display is resealed with fresh adhesive and left to bond, then we calibrate and load-test the new battery, confirm charge and discharge behave correctly, and check the screen sits flush before the iPad goes back to you.
- Written warranty. On the battery and the workmanship, printed on your job sheet.
Making the new battery last
A quality replacement should give several years of normal use. To get the most from it: keep it cool — heat is the number-one ager, so avoid hot cars, direct sun, and charging on soft surfaces or under a pillow where heat builds up; don't leave it docked at 100% while warm for days on end; take a thick case off if the iPad gets hot while charging or gaming; and there is no need to run a modern battery flat to "recalibrate" it. The same habits that protect a laptop pack protect an iPad — our how to protect your laptop battery guide goes deeper, and if you also own a MacBook, our MacBook battery health guide explains cycle counts in detail.
Our warranty on iPad battery replacement
Every completed iPad battery replacement carries a written warranty on the battery we fitted and the workmanship, printed on your job sheet and specific about what is covered and for how long. Ordinary capacity loss over time is the nature of any battery and sits outside a defect warranty, as does accidental or liquid damage after collection — we explain exactly where that line falls before you pay. If a replacement cell shows a genuine fault within the warranty period, bring it back and we make it right. This warranty is our own and is independent of any remaining Apple cover; we are not affiliated with or authorised by Apple, and where your iPad is still under AppleCare+ we will tell you honestly if that is the better route.
Why customers choose us for iPad batteries
Because we handle swollen batteries as the safety job they are, not a rushed swap. Because we read the real cycle count and capacity that iPadOS hides, and confirm it is the battery — not the port or the board — before you spend anything. Because we open the bonded screen slowly rather than cracking it in a hurry, fit quality cells rather than the cheapest pack, write the quote before the work so it does not change after, and back every job with a written warranty. And because your data is never touched, and if we cannot fix it you do not pay a repair fee. After fourteen years and more than nine hundred reviews averaging 4.8 stars, telling you the truth about your iPad matters more to us than the margin on one battery. If your tablet needs more than a battery, the same bench covers iPad motherboard repair and, when a device will not power on and the files matter, data recovery.

iPad battery replacement questions, answered
How much does iPad battery replacement cost in Singapore?
It depends on the model, but an iPad battery replacement is a fraction of the cost of a replacement iPad and gives a sound tablet years more life. The standard iPad and iPad mini sit lower in the range; the iPad Air and the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro cost more because the batteries are larger and the bonded display takes longer to open safely. Because the screen is glued over the battery on every iPad, the labour is more involved than on a phone, and that is reflected in the quote. We diagnose the battery on the bench first, confirm it is the battery and not the charging port or board, and give you a written quote before any work.
My iPad screen is lifting or bulging at one edge. Is that the battery?
Almost certainly, and it is a safety issue you should act on now. The battery sits directly under the display, so a swelling battery pushes the screen up — the classic signs are a screen lifting away from the aluminium body, a visible gap around the edge, or the glass beginning to separate. Stop using and charging the iPad, do not press the screen back down, keep it away from heat, and bring it in. A swollen lithium-polymer cell is a genuine fire risk if punctured, and it needs careful, controlled removal — never force. We handle swollen iPad batteries carefully and reseal the display properly afterwards.
How do I know if my iPad needs a new battery when iPadOS doesn't show battery health?
Unlike the iPhone, iPadOS does not display a battery health percentage or cycle count in Settings, so the signs are mostly behavioural: runtime that has collapsed, the iPad shutting down suddenly with charge still showing, it only staying on while plugged in, very slow charging, or the iPad running hot. Any swelling or a lifting screen is the urgent sign. When you bring it in we read the real cycle count and measured capacity on a bench tool, so you get an honest number rather than a guess — and the diagnosis is free.
Will replacing the iPad battery erase my data?
No. The battery is completely separate from the storage, which is soldered to the logic board, so a battery replacement does not touch your photos, apps or settings, and the storage is never removed during the job. We always recommend an iCloud or computer backup before any repair as good practice, but a battery replacement on its own carries no data risk. If an iPad will not power on at all and the data matters, tell us and we will handle it accordingly.
Isn't it cheaper for Apple to just give me a replacement iPad?
Apple's out-of-warranty battery service for iPad is usually a whole-unit swap — they give you a replacement device rather than opening yours, which means a set fee and setting up a different iPad from your backup. For many owners an independent battery replacement is less expensive, keeps the exact iPad you own, and avoids the reset-and-restore. Where your iPad is still under warranty or AppleCare+, we will tell you honestly if that is the better route. We are not affiliated with or authorised by Apple; we are the independent alternative.
How long does an iPad battery replacement take?
With the part in stock it is typically same-day or next-day, but an iPad is not a quick swap. The display is bonded to the frame with strong adhesive and has to be warmed and separated slowly to avoid cracking the glass or the digitiser, then the old battery — itself firmly glued down — is removed, a quality cell fitted, and the screen resealed with fresh adhesive and left to bond. Rushing any of that is how screens get cracked, so we take the time it needs. Message us the model and we will confirm stock and a realistic turnaround before you travel.
How do I make a new iPad battery last, in Singapore's heat?
Heat is the biggest ager of any lithium battery, and it matters more than anything else in Singapore's climate. Keep the iPad out of hot cars and direct sun, do not leave it charging under a pillow or on a bed where heat builds up, and take it out of a thick case if it gets warm while charging or gaming. Leaving it plugged in at 100% while hot for days is harder on the cell than a moderate charge range. A quality replacement looked after this way should give several years of normal use. Our guide on protecting your laptop battery covers the same habits that apply to an iPad.
