Our Gigabyte repair process, step by step

2. Non-destructive diagnosis. Power-path check on a bench supply, storage health read, memory test, and a thermal-camera look at how the cooler and fans behave under load. On a no-power Gigabyte this is where the current-draw reading decides everything that follows.
3. Confirm the part and its lead time. If the fix needs an AERO OLED panel or a specific battery, we identify the exact part from your model and serial and confirm it is available before we commit to a turnaround. Gigabyte panels and cells are not always on the shelf in Singapore, and we would rather tell you a real date than a hopeful one.
4. Written quote. The fault, the part, the price, any lead time, and an honest read on whether the repair is worth doing on a Gigabyte of that model, age and value. You approve the figure before we proceed, and the figure does not change afterwards.

Gigabyte motherboard repair: what actually happens

A modern Gigabyte gaming mainboard carries dozens of switching regulators, a charging IC, an embedded controller, the CPU package, memory, and a discrete GPU with its own heavy power delivery. Because these machines run high-TDP silicon in a slim body, the board lives a hard thermal life, and almost every "dead Gigabyte motherboard" is one of those subsystems misbehaving rather than the whole board dying. Most are repairable with the boardview and the equipment to replace components without cooking the substrate. The repairs we do most on Gigabyte boards are shorted decoupling capacitors on a power rail, a failed charging IC that leaves the board drawing nothing from the adapter, a worn DC-in jack, corroded traces after a minor spill, and GPU solder fatigue on the high-TDP AORUS and G-series models. Gigabyte AERO OLED screen and battery work

Screen work on Gigabyte splits along the model line. On the gaming machines a cracked panel is a fairly standard replacement to the correct resolution and refresh rate. On the AERO creator line it is a different job: the OLED panel was chosen for its colour accuracy, so it must be matched to the exact panel specification — resolution, refresh, factory calibration and connector — and fitting a cheaper grade throws away the whole reason the machine exists. Gigabyte OLED panels sometimes have to be sourced and can carry a lead time in Singapore, so we confirm the part before quoting a date. Gigabyte overheating, fans and thermal service

If your Gigabyte throttles, shuts down or has turned into a jet engine, the cause is almost always heat, not Windows and not the SSD. The factory compound between the dies and the heatsink dries and cracks; Singapore's dust builds a felt mat across the radiator fins; and the fan bearings wear until they grind, buzz or spin slower than the sensor believes. The silicon protects itself by dropping clock speed, and the machine gets slow and loud without ever reporting a fault. Mistakes that turn a small Gigabyte repair into a large one

• Ignoring a machine that shuts down under load. Every thermal cut-off is the silicon protecting itself at its limit. Keep gaming through it and you accelerate the compound breakdown and, on high-TDP models, the solder fatigue — turning a same-day clean into a board repair.
• Letting an unqualified shop "reflow" an AORUS or G-series GPU. Heating the board until the solder softens revives it for a few weeks and makes the proper reball harder and dearer.
• Buying a cheap panel online for an AERO. Wrong grade, wrong colour, wrong connector — and the colour-accurate panel is the whole reason the machine exists.
• Reinstalling Windows to "fix" a failing SSD. The install writes across the failing sectors and destroys the data you were about to lose. Image first, then diagnose.
• Running a swollen battery because the laptop still boots. A puffed cell lifting the trackpad is a fire risk, not a cosmetic annoyance. Stop using it and bring it in.
