MacBook repair for the CBD, without leaving your desk

Across Raffles Place, Marina Bay, Shenton Way and Tanjong Pagar, the MacBook is the default work machine — the laptop consultants, lawyers, agency creatives and startup teams carry every day. When one fails, the problem is rarely the repair; it is finding time to get it fixed. So we built this service around the way the CBD actually works: islandwide courier collection from your office lobby, genuine component-level repair rather than parts-swapping, confidential handling for corporate machines, and a free diagnosis with a written quote before anyone touches a screw.

Built for how the CBD works

The Central Business District is the densest concentration of professionals on the island, and it runs on Apple hardware. Walk through Raffles Place, Marina Bay Financial Centre, One Raffles Quay or the towers along Shenton Way and Cross Street, and the machine on most desks is a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro. Firms standardise on them, agencies design on them, and startups in the Tanjong Pagar and Downtown co-working spaces live on them. That is exactly why a broken MacBook here is such a headache: the person who owns it usually cannot spare an afternoon to queue at a service counter, and the machine often holds work that has to keep moving.

We designed this service to remove the friction rather than add to it. The headline is simple — you should not have to leave the office. We collect the MacBook by islandwide courier from your building lobby, diagnose it for free, send you a written quote, repair it at component level, and return it to the same desk. For a lot of CBD customers the whole thing happens without them stepping outside once. If you would rather bring it in yourself, our workshop is a short, direct ride away, and we explain the route below.

Drop-and-go, or courier from your lobby

There are two ways to use us from the CBD, and both are built around not wasting your time.

  • Islandwide courier collection. Message us the MacBook model and a description of the fault, and we arrange a rider to collect from your office in Raffles Place, Marina Bay, Shenton Way or Tanjong Pagar. We diagnose it, send the written quote, repair on approval, and courier it back. This is the most popular option for desk-bound professionals, and it is the one we would suggest if your calendar is unforgiving.
  • Drop-and-go in person. If you are passing or would rather hand it over yourself, drop the machine at the workshop, tell us the symptoms, and get on with your day — the diagnosis is free and you do not need to wait around while it is assessed. We message you the quote and turnaround, and you approve before any work begins.

Confidentiality for corporate machines

A MacBook from a CBD office is rarely just a laptop — it carries client files, deal documents, source code, or a whole team's inbox. We handle corporate machines as confidential by default. The overwhelming majority of hardware repairs — a screen, a battery, a keyboard, a charging fault, most logic board work — are completed and verified without ever signing into your account or opening a single file, and we will not ask for your password unless a repair genuinely cannot be confirmed without it. When a job does need access or any data handling, we say so in writing first and agree the scope with you. We are happy to work alongside your IT or procurement team on paperwork, and machines live securely on the bench, never left out on a public counter.

What we repair — MacBook depth, not parts-swapping

MacBooks fail in specific, well-understood ways, and the difference between a good repair and an expensive one usually comes down to whether the shop repairs at component level or just orders assemblies. We do the former.

  • Panel-only screen replacement. A cracked or flickering Retina display does not always mean a whole new lid. Where the model allows it, we replace the LCD panel alone rather than the entire display assembly, which is a very different price. See MacBook screen replacement.
  • Swollen and glued battery replacement. MacBook batteries are bonded into the chassis with strong adhesive, and a swollen cell can lift the trackpad or warp the case. We remove and replace them safely. See MacBook battery replacement.
  • Keyboard and top-case work. Dead keys, sticky butterfly-mechanism keys and spill damage, including the top-case assemblies where the keyboard, battery and trackpad live together. See MacBook keyboard replacement.
  • Component-level logic board repair. No power, no boot, no backlight, phantom shutdowns or a board that will not charge often trace to a single failed power rail, capacitor or chip. We repair the board with microsoldering rather than selling you a replacement. See MacBook logic board repair.
  • Flexgate backlight repair. The 2016 and 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro suffers a known display-cable failure — a "stage light" effect along the bottom of the screen or a display that cuts out when opened past a certain angle. This is a cable and board-side fault we fix directly.
  • Liquid damage. Coffee, water and the rest. The right first move is to stop, not to keep switching it on; we clean, deal with corrosion, and recover what can be recovered at board level.
  • Data recovery. If the storage or the board has failed and the files matter more than the machine, we handle data recovery as its own discipline.

Getting to us from the CBD

Our workshop is at 6 Harper Road, Leong Huat Building #05-02, in the Boon Keng and Bendemeer pocket just north-east of the city. It is about a five-minute walk from Boon Keng MRT (NE9), and the CBD happens to sit on the same line:

  • By MRT. The North-East Line runs almost straight up to us. Board at Chinatown or Clarke Quay, or change onto the North-East Line from Raffles Place or Marina Bay, and ride up to Boon Keng — roughly fifteen minutes, then a five-minute walk.
  • By car or taxi. It is a ten to fifteen minute run from the CBD outside peak hours, heading up towards Serangoon Road and Kallang. There is parking in the building, so you can drop off and collect without circling for a lot.
  • By courier. The simplest option of all if you are tied to your desk — we collect and return islandwide, lobby to lobby, whether you are in Raffles Place, Marina Bay Financial Centre, Shenton Way or Tanjong Pagar.

Turnaround for a working professional

Because CBD customers are almost always on a deadline, we make timing explicit rather than vague. Batteries, stocked screen panels, keyboards and top cases, and storage or no-boot triage are commonly same-day or next-day, so a courier can collect in the morning and have the machine back within the working week. Component-level logic board and liquid-damage repairs take a few working days, because a board is traced and repaired properly, and rushing a board is how boards die. We confirm the realistic turnaround in writing when we send the quote — and if a deadline is genuinely tight, we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it before you commit.

Why component-level, and why us

The service counters closest to the CBD tend to work by replacement: a fault is diagnosed to a part, the part is swapped, and you pay for the whole assembly. That is fine for some jobs and wasteful for others. When a MacBook will not charge, will not power on, or has taken a splash of liquid, the actual failure is usually a small component on the logic board — and replacing the board, or writing off the machine, is a far bigger bill than repairing the component that failed. Our bench is built for that work. We also service the full MacBook parts and repair range and, more broadly, every Apple device in one place. Prefer a Windows machine or run a mixed fleet? Our laptop repair for the CBD covers Dell, HP, Lenovo and the rest on the same terms. Whichever it is, the diagnosis is free, the quote is written first, and every completed repair carries a written warranty — and if we cannot fix it, you do not pay a repair fee.

One thing to be clear about: we are an independent repair centre. We are not affiliated with, or authorised by, Apple. What we offer instead is honest component-level repair, transparent pricing in bands rather than surprises, and a service shaped around the reality of working in the CBD.

CBD customers ask

MacBook repair for the CBD — your questions

I work in Raffles Place and cannot leave the office — can you still repair my MacBook?

Yes, and this is the most common way CBD customers use us. We offer islandwide courier collection and return, so you can hand the MacBook to a rider in the lobby of your Raffles Place, Marina Bay or Shenton Way building and have it come back to the same desk. Message us the model and the fault first, we arrange a pickup that fits your day, and you never have to step away from work. If you prefer to drop it off in person, our workshop is a short North-East Line ride from the CBD.

How do I get to your workshop from the CBD?

We are at 6 Harper Road, Leong Huat Building #05-02, about a five-minute walk from Boon Keng station on the North-East Line (NE9). From the CBD the North-East Line runs almost straight to us: board at Chinatown or Clarke Quay, or change onto the line from Raffles Place or Marina Bay, and ride up to Boon Keng in roughly fifteen minutes. By taxi it is a ten to fifteen minute run off-peak, and there is parking in the building if you drive.

Our MacBooks hold sensitive company data — how do you handle confidentiality?

We treat corporate machines as confidential by default. Almost every hardware repair — a screen, a battery, a keyboard, a charging fault, most logic board work — is completed without ever signing into your account or touching your files, and we do not ask for your password unless a repair genuinely cannot be verified without it. If a job does require access or any data handling, we tell you in writing first and agree the scope with you. We are happy to work with your IT or procurement team on documentation, and machines are stored securely on our bench, not left out on a counter.

What MacBook faults do you actually repair, rather than just replacing parts?

The full range. Panel-only screen replacement so you are not paying for a whole lid assembly, glued and swollen battery replacement, keyboard and top-case work, charging and no-power faults, flexgate backlight-cable failure on the 2016–2017 Pro, and liquid-damage recovery. Where a fault sits on the logic board — a failed power rail, a shorted capacitor, a chip that has lifted — we repair the board at component level with microsoldering rather than selling you a replacement board or a new machine. If the drive or storage has failed, we also handle data recovery.

How fast is the turnaround for a CBD professional who needs the machine back?

Many common MacBook jobs — batteries, stocked screen panels, keyboards and top cases, storage and no-boot triage — are same-day or next-day, so a courier can collect in the morning and return the machine within the working week. Component-level logic board and liquid-damage repairs take a few working days, because a board is traced and repaired properly rather than rushed. We confirm the realistic turnaround in writing once the fault is diagnosed, and if timing is critical for a deadline we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.
